50% opacity is a common watermark standard โ€” visible but not distracting.

Why Add a Watermark to Your Images?

Watermarking is the most effective way to protect your photographs, digital art, and creative work from unauthorized use. A visible watermark with your name or brand discourages theft and makes it easy to trace the original source.

Photographers, designers, bloggers, and e-commerce store owners use watermarks to protect product photos before publishing them online. Even a semi-transparent watermark in a corner significantly reduces image theft.

How to Add a Watermark to an Image

  1. Upload your image โ€” Select a JPG, PNG, or WebP file.
  2. Enter watermark text โ€” Type your name, website, copyright notice, or brand name.
  3. Choose position โ€” Select where the watermark appears (center, corners, top, bottom).
  4. Set opacity โ€” 50% is standard. Use lower for subtle, higher for more visible.
  5. Download โ€” Click "Add Watermark" and download your protected image.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I remove a watermark added by this tool?
Watermarks added at 50%+ opacity are difficult to remove without visibly degrading the image. For maximum protection, use the Center position at 70โ€“80% opacity.

What opacity should I use for watermarks?
50% opacity is the industry standard โ€” visible enough to identify ownership but not so distracting that it ruins the viewing experience. For preview images, use 70โ€“80%.

Does the watermark affect image quality?
The underlying image is not degraded. The watermark is rendered on top of your original image and the result is saved at high quality (92% for JPEG).

Is my image safe after uploading?
Yes. Your image is processed on a secure server and automatically deleted within 2 hours. We do not store, share, or access your files.

Can I add a logo watermark instead of text?
Currently this tool supports text watermarks only. Logo/image watermark support is on our roadmap.
